This early firing glass or cannon is German made and dated as a presentation piece 1890.  It bears all the symbolism of Blue Lodge and York Rite Masonry.  The Firing Glass name came from the French, in their Table Lodges, called the drinking of a toast, feu, or fire.  The word is also applied to the action immediately following the drinking of a toast in British Lodges when a quaint little ceremonial is observed by all the Brethren.
