1901 Folk Art Masonic Temple Gavel

This is a well executed piece of Folk Art carved to look like a Masonic Temple.  The working tools, three Great Lights, Tyler's Sword and the Past Masters emblem are all finely carved and detailed on each side. The body or head of the gavel is carved from one solid piece of walnut!  Notice how well done the pillars are!  The top is a separate piece attached with screws and has the carved initials "B.J.W." - "G.M.M.S.C." - "W.M.J.L." and the date, "1901."  The detail is terrific!  It does have a small chip broken out of the base from having been used.  It measures 3 1/2 inches wide by 2 1/2 inches high and 2 3/4 inches deep, overall it is 12 1/2 inches long which includes the handle.
