Pillars
of the Porch
Boaz was
the name of the left-hand pillar that stood at the porch of King Solomon's
Temple. It is derived from the Hebrew and signifies "in
strength." Jachin was the name of the right-hand pillar. It
is derived from two Hebrew words, jah, "God," and iachin,
"will establish." It signifies "he that
strengthens," or "will establish." The two
words used together signify "in strength shall
this my house be established."
