Grand Commander of the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite, Southern
Jurisdiction as the Composer of the great Civil War song
"Dixie". It is dated 1899. It is very surprising to see
a picture of him dressed in his Scottish Rite regalia in connection with this
piece of sheet music. Pike was a loyal supporter of the Confederacy and
this song became a battle hymn for the southern cause.
