1928 Art Deco Jewelry Box

with Ocean Motif from Miami, Florida  

       

      

Here is a hinged brass box featuring art deco Miami, Florida . The sides are decorated with water activities, corners decorated with fish, top and front with Miami beach scenes.  Shrine emblem on top with front banner commemorating the 54th Imperial Council Session held in May, 1928.  On the top of the box is the Shriner emblem, two swordfish and a beach scene with palm trees, a boat, people walking on the beach and other people sitting under a beach umbrella. The one side has a lady skiing, the other side has a man getting ready to jump off a diving board. The back has no imprints.  The interior is lined with removable inserts. The bottom is marked American Artworks Inc.  It measures 7 inches wide by 3.5 inches tall by 3.5 inches deep.
