1825
Staffordshire Flow Blue State Plate
that
Memorializes George Washington

This State Plate
is from the America and Independence Series produced by James and Ralph Clews.
It is a beautiful dark flow blue with Mt. Vernon in the middle with two women
in the foreground. The border names each of the states on a ribbon running
around it. George Washington is pictured in a medallion on the left held
by Justice wearing what appears to be a Masonic Apron with the Square and
Compasses on it. A Liberty Cap on a pole is to the right. The reverse
has the impressed mark of Clews on it with a crown in the center. It
measures 6 5/8 inches in diameter and is circa 1825.
