This item was thought to be a Masonic Door Knob, but we have since learned that it is an early automobile gear shift knob instead.  The brass insert in the knob has a bushing to allow the knob to be used on cars other than Chrysler products, The large thread size is 5/8 inch and the inside thread on the brass insert is probably 5/16 inch.  It is made of bakelite one of the first early forms of plastic.  The center is cast bronze and pictures the Square and Compasses and the Letter "G".  It measures approx. 3 inches in diameter.

A special "Thanks" to Joe Russell for properly identifying this item!
