Folk Art Military / Masonic Pipe

FOLK ART -Army - Ft.McHenry Baltimore Wood Pipe-Flag, Masonic This old, wood carved, FOLK ART military pipe was part of the Boleslaw Mastai collection.  Boleslaw and Marie-Louise Mastai are authors of the book “The Stars And The Stripes -The American Flag As Art And As History From The Birth Of The Republic To The Present”.   The pipe measures approx. 2” across the top.  The carved wooden bowl is approx. 3” long.  The amber mouthpiece is approx. 2 5/8” long. The pipe is made of deeply carved wood.  It is hand carved and not commercially made.  The bowl is carved with an American flag and the Masonic Square and Compasses.  It is also carved “Major J. S. Little. MD. Fort McHenry Hospt. Baltimore. Md. US.” This is a high quality pipe.  Itt is 19th Century.  It is in good condition.  The carving is fantastic!  It is certainly one of a kind.  This pipe is a great example of American Folk Art.
