Early George Washington Collar Box
This is the best ca1830s advertising collar box
this curator has ever seen! This fantastic, original, illustrated paper board
box measures approx. 7 inches in diameter and 2 inches high and has a stunning
wood engraving of George Washington as a Freemason on the lid! It
advertises the “Washington Manufacturing Co.” of Troy New York.
Washington is pictured in 3/4 length with his Masonic apron and sash with the
words “Father of Our Country / Economy the Highway to Wealth” printed below
the image. Above the image are the words “Washington Manufacturing Co.,
Troy, N.Y.” and on the sides of the image it reads “Gent’s Pat. Combination
and / Cloth Lined Collars”.
