This Wilkinson Sword Shrine Scimitar is not an old piece but is certainly destined to become a museum piece.  It was made to commemorate the Shrine of North America's 100th Anniversary (1872-1972) Shrinetennial.   The first panel on the blade depicts the founders who organized the first Shrine Temple in 1872 -- Mecca Temple in New York City.  The second panel depicts the first Shriners Hospital opened in 1922 in Shreveport, Louisiana.  The third panel depicts Shriners as men who enjoy life.  They enjoy parades, trips, circuses, dances, dinners, sporting events and other social occasions together.  The fourth panel depicts the Shrine logo -- The Scimitar, Pharoah, Crescent Moon and Star.  The fifth panel depicts the Shrine of North America's commitment to its official philanthropy -- The Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children.  Today, the Shrine operates 19 orthopedic hospitals and three burn institutes where children, up to their 18th birthday, regardless of race, religion or relationship to a Shriner, receive excellent medical care... absolutely free.   Application forms are available from Shriners, Shrine Temple offices or local Shrine Clubs, any Shriners Hospital or by writing Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida  33607.  A toll-free number is also available:  In the United States call 1-800-237-5055; or in Canada call 1-800-361-7256
