This is a beautifully made English snuff box that
was probably commissioned by Grosvenor Lodge No. 938 as a presentation piece
that was made for Brother Richard H. Mogford. It is made to resemble a
square and has a "sheaf of wheat" engraved on the box lid. Under
Mogford's name is Audi Vide Tace which is Latin for "Hear, see, be silent".
Hallmarked on inner lid and bottom:
Lion Passant (Sterling) , Anchor (Birmingham) , "G" (1931) , F&S (maker)
Also marked on exterior side: REG APP FOR. The box without the square
measures: 1 3/8" x 1" x 3/8" deep.
