1979 10th Anniversary Our Flags on the Moon" Medallion
This 1979 medallion was struck to
commemorate the 10th Anniversary of our flags on the moon. Many people
were never aware that Astronaut and Brother Neil Armstrong carried aboard on his
Apollo flight to the moon 2 (two) flags. One was the American flag, the
other was a flag designed by the Southern Jurisdiction of the Scottish Rite
depicting the double-headed eagle emblem. This flag now resides in the
museum collection of the Scottish Rite Museum at the House of the Temple.
It is a spectacular three-dimensional medallion
and measures 1 3/4 inches in diameter. It was made by the Medallic Art Co.
of Dansbury, CT.
