Each year Syria Shrine Temple produced novelty glass items to commemorate the Imperial Council Session that they were to attend.  These glass items were sold and traded much like today's baseball cards and pins and were the most sought after collectibles at these conventions.  Syria Temple commissioned Westmoreland Glass Co. and United States Glass Company to produce a different glass each year with a "theme" suited to the city that they were visiting.   The year this Gold Plated Trophy Cup was made, 1910, the Imperial Session was held in New Orleans, Louisiana.    This trophy cup, made in clear glass with acid etched logos and lettering and was then solid gold plated.  It is an "original" made by the United States Glass Co. (original label still attached) and measures 3 1/2  inches tall.
